What is the study?
We aim to understand how early experiences influence brain and behavioral development by examining multiple key components of social-emotional function that happen across infancy: language acquisition, learning to process faces, and forming attachments with caregivers.
What is involved?
4 in-lab study visits when your child is around 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, and 24 months of age and at home audio and photo snapshots in between visits
Lab visits will last around 1.5-2.5
hours, including breaks. The visits include:
Caregiver questionnaires about the child, caregiver, and home environment
Child play activities
Baby-friendly brain recordings
Recorded child-caregiver play
Who can participate?
Children between 2 and 4 months old accompanied by a caregiver who is at least 18 years of age
What is included?
You and your child will receive:
Financial compensation up to $310
Travel reimbursement
Photo of your child doing science
Toy to take home
Babysitting for siblings is also provided if needed
