Mariane St. Juste

Mariane received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Psychology from Williams College in 2021. At Williams, she was involved in initiatives to support underrepresented college students such as first-generation students and Black women through mentorship and advocacy. She worked as a Research Assistant in Dr. Laurie Heatherington’s lab investigating the effects of gender and first-generation college student status on academic self-presentation and confidence. She also worked at institutions like Boston Healthcare for the Homeless and the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition with the goal of understanding how social, environmental, and biological factors create and maintain healthcare inequality in the United States. Her research interests focus on the intersection of health and race, culture, and ethnicity with the goal of designing resources and interventions that are culturally conscious. Mariane hopes to use her knowledge and experiences to make healthcare more accessible for every community regardless of resources. Outside of academics, she enjoys spending time with her family, visiting local museums and restaurants, and exploring new cities. Mariane served as PINE Lab’s inaugural Lab Manager from 2021 to 2023.
