SCALE: Solutions for Community Assessment of Largescale EEG

Infant public health relies on physical growth (weight, height) measures to evaluate early life development. Can infant neuroscience better serve global public health needs? We are thrilled to announce the launch of a new Gates Foundation-funded collaboration to address this question, SCALE: Solutions for Community Assessment of Largescale EEG. In the next two years, SCALE will see up to 10,000 infants longitudinally in 5+ countries in cohort and RCT designs to redefine the scope of infant neuroscience globally and its potential for public health evaluations of early life.

Tackling this real-world challenge requires innovation in partnership, design, and implementation. SCALE brings together neurotechnology industry driver Huru, academic neuroscientists, local community leads, and clinicians across Sub-Saharan Africa. Working together, we are reimagining a comprehensive and cost-effective EEG hardware, software, and data infrastructure solution that provides and protects sensitive and specific information about neurodevelopment for all of the world’s children.
